If it were me and I had a brand new crate V6 motor like he has I would do this.
Confirm all marine parts from original motor fit the crate motor. (engine water pump, manifolds, etc.) Oh marine engine water pumps are different than automotive so you know.
First expense reccommended!! Determine if the original was mechanical fuel pump or not, (I believe it was NOT) but I would replace the fuel pump and connector as a precautionary measure anyways!!
Second DO THE HEAD GASKETS if you can not prove to be salt water/marine grade.
Third, find cam specs for crate motor and compare to marine V6 with 4BBL (I believe it is 205 hp) If different REPLACE CAM, Rinker are typically a heavy boat you will need it!!
Fourth purchase a new intake and carb (4BBL) for max power, Also correct throttle cable bracket for 4BBl.
Fifth, If you are pulling the motor you may as well as suggested replace the coupler. Once and done!!
Sixth, You will need the alignment tool for the gimbal to coupler.
Seventh, if you need new manifolds and elbows then buy them.
So from my view point you have at LEAST seven ares of concern. Address each one with a marine/proper solution and you will have a long lasting and turn key boating experience. If you choose not to then the end result will be noone elses fault but yours.
I do agree that a turbo prepped motor may have a week cam in it!! Also what type of head gasket is used??? would it not be some special type with extra sealing capability for the boost?? This all may be an issue (salt/brackish water/fresh water) but I bet none here can say for sure as most of us here who have proffesionally worked on boats would not even consider this as an option. To much to do and it is so much easier to purchase a marine prepped block and be done with it.
SO in response to all the crap earlier in this post, if you want a back yard answer for a back yard solution the average marine forum is not the place to get one. The correct answers should be every time to GO MARINE ONLY when doing a motor replacement. If you get reccomendations from a non marine proffesional then the answer would be go for it!!
No one can say for sure it wont work but based on a lot of people looking for answers here those of us who have or still do work in the business can not say/answer questions that would cause harm or damage or side step most/all coast guard regulations. Someone could get hurt!!
SO do your reaserch on your motor, do your research on the marine equlivalent and make the neccessary adjustments/changes and you will be much happier.
