"Is there a major altitude difference between where you are testing with muffs and the lake you are putting in. Some of the older 2 strokes have difficulty starting at high altitudes if they are jetted incorrectly, this probably isn't the problem you are having though. Could this be a head gasket problem?"

"There is no altitude differance between the muffs and where I put the boat in. I think possibly it has somthing to do with back pressure on the exhaust because i put the motor in a trash can with water it dosent start. When I take the motor out of trash can and put muffs back on it starts right up? This is weird, not sure if this could be a head gasket problem, How should I check?"

"Check the compression! Not t

"Check the compression! Not to say , but this happened to me and it was the rings went by-by. Hope you have better luck than me. Sincerely, Brian"

If the exhaust relief holes at

If the exhaust relief holes at the back of the leg gets under water this is 'normal'.

"I took a compression check an

"I took a compression check and found #1 cylinder at 70 psi, #2 at 75 psi, and #3 at 95 psi. My manual says that the differance between cylinders shouldnt be more than 5 psi but dosent give what actual compression should be."

"That engine must crank over a

"That engine must crank over at least 300 rpms in order to energize the ignition. On a flushette, there is no back pressure to affect the cranking rpms.

In the water, the back pressure will affect the cranking rpms resulting in the possibly that your engine is cranking too slowly.

Battery, loose or tight/dirty cables, failing starter?"

I have noticed that I can get

I have noticed that I can get motor to start in trash can by choking it and opening up the throtle but motor runs very rough and wont idle.

"I'm with Doug. I think if that's the best compression, you may get lucky with a head gasket, or may need rebuild. If that's the case, sometimes a rebuilt power head is the way to go. On my motor the VRO quit and the alarm failed. Good Luck, Brian"

my motor is somewhat larger bu
