1991 Johnson 28 SPL Boggs down

This engine runs beautifully under half throttle, starts good, but when you open it up, it bogs down and will die if you don't quickly throttle back. Bumping the choke helps somewhat but does not completely get out of condition. Thought I had bad fuel, completely changed fuel in tank, drained carb. bowl. No change. Replaced fuel lines and checked screen in tank. All good. This started doing this all at once while fishing. Was not a progressive problem. Tried pressing the fuel bulb while running and found no change. This engine has good compression and I changed plugs not too long ago with the Champions dealer recomended. Please give me something to try on this. It has me stumped. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Your explanation of the problem indicates that the carburetors are somewhat clogged. If so, remove, clean, and rebuild them as needed.
