I just bought this boat in storage for 15 years. The starter was toast as was the fuel line…replaced them. It is not pumping water so I bought the water pump kit. When I disconnected the shift linkage and took out the 5 bolts it dropped down but is stuck on the drive shaft where it leaves the tube. You can push it back up to the crank but when you try to pull out it hits something. PLEASE ADVISE I want to fish. Thanks
 
How much separation do you get between the lower unit and exhaust housing?---Did you remove the upper nut on the shift rod?---Have you removed the little black plastic keeper?
