number-50

I have a 1991 70 HP Evinrude with no spark on the middle cyl. Took power wire off of number one cyl. and had spark so bought a new coil and still have no fire, lost from here don't know how to test power pack or timer base. Thanks, Steve

best advice.....if u choose to service it urself......is a FACTORY..service manual...u can get them on this site.....i think........not clymers or seloc...albeit,...not terrible but factory,is prefered,as it is eng SPECIFIC,..and not generic...

Power wire?? If you took the orange primary wire that was leading to the top cyl and connected it to the center cyl coil, then had spark at the center coil..... that proves that the coil is okay. In which case, the problem component is usually the powerpack.

Put powerpack on have spark on all cylinders but only sounds like its running on two, also cylinder that did not have spark before took out spark new spark plug and it hasn't fired. Hair is getting grayer!

If you have spark and compression on all cylinders, that leaves only fuel. Check the compression...... if okay, you most likely have a fouled carburetor.

Spark plugs should be Champion QL77JC4 plugs gapped at eithewr .040 or .030 (your choice).

Your statement of....."also cylinder that did not have spark before took out spark new spark plug and it hasn't fired."..... Sorry but I have no idea what that means. However, if you meant to say that the cylinder that didn't have spark previously now has spark and has a new spark plug but still doesn't fire...... if you have compression, that still leads me into a fouled carburetor.
