Having a strange problem. I bought a new tach, Teleflex Morse, and hooked it up to the wiring harness under the dash. Seems to work OK to ~3000 RPM, after which as I continue to increase speed of engine the tack begins to go backwards! Thinking it may be defective I took it back to West Marine, they gave me another, and it did the same thing.
My first thought was that the signal level is too high from the motor so I was going to try an in-line resistor at the tack input, maybe 1000 ohms and then work down to 47 or so.
Any Ideas?
