1991 30hp evenrude help

Are you sure post #2 says that upper keeper taper faces up and lower keeper taper faces down ??----Read all posts carefully !!!
 
Joereeves replied to this thread #2 he clearly said that he thought the tapered end of the keeper went to the end of the rod?
Like you Racerone, I feel why bother answering every debate?
 
I only wanted to know a definite position on these keepers. I’d heard a lot about Joereeves & you obviously know what your talking about...
im not here to insult anybody’s intelligence or appear rude.
 
Another point I feel I must add....
im pretty sure the reason I needed to replace one of these keepers.....(the top one) was that it was put in upside down & tightened up, crushing it!

Try to reduce photo to under 1000k. Like I might have mentioned.....I've seen these things put in upside down, that is why I wanted to dismantle a virgin. Racer is a tiny bit defensive, he shouldn't worry. He is surely one of the forums most experienced and talented. When and if I get to my 80's, I hope I can still be useful too.
