I have a 1991 135 hp (original owner) black max Mercury. I have just had a MAJOR ($2200) re work of the engine by an authorized Mercury dealer in North Houston. I took it in because the motor will not idle. It runs strong at cruise, but if you pull it to idle, it will die. If you are in neutral, it will idle, but when you put it in foward/reverse idle, it will die. This is the reason I had all the work done to it. I took it back to the dealer and at no charge they worked on it some more. It will still die when you go from neutral to forward/reverse idle. This makes putting the boat on the trailer, or pulling up to the dock a nightmare. They even drained the fuel tank and added an in line filter. Any ideas.
