1991 115hp johnson trim problem

Have a 115 Johnson model VJ115

Have a 115 Johnson model VJ115TLESB that I just got a week ago. Trim worked fine first couple of days then abruptly quit. By tapping gently on the motor I was able to put it up for transport. I added some oil in the hyd port and it seemed to help but I still had to tap on it to get it started. Left it sit overnight and tryed it again and again I had to tap on it to get it started. I ran it up and down several times and it seemed to get better each time until I let it sit overnight again. I had to tap it again but it would still respond with tapping. Anyone with any suggestions. Thanks
