I just bought an older boat with a volvo penta 275 i have a couple issues one is that the gas in the the tank is 2 years old and is jelly so i was wondering if i can put any thing in the tank to make it better or do i have to just bite the bullet and drain the whole thing out. and if so what is the best way 2 do this im not very mechanically inclined so im just learning so dont be afraid to talk stupid to me lol

"Very carefully add some NEW fuel to the tank. If this is on a trailer, take the boat for a ride.... shake her up some.

This would be a great time to also remove the "Pick UP" tube that is directly beneath the fuel tank fitting. Clean the screen at the bottom of this tube and you'll be ahead of the game for when you start using the boat.

Now connect a long hose to your fuel line connection at the tank (remove the anti-siphon valve) and start yourself a siphon over-board into containers.
Raise the bow up some!

Some city recycle centers are equipped to take your old fuel for recycling. Usually at No Charge!

Again, I have to say Be Careful handling fuel."

so after i drain the fuel out

so after i drain the fuel out there is going to be some jelly substance in the tank still if i fill the tank up with new gas will it mix with the jelly and be fine to run on? or do i have to put some new gas in drain it and do that a couple of times to get all the jelly out? thanx
