1990 omc 2.3 cobra no reverse

I have a issue lost reverse this weekend it is stuck in forward well kinda it will come out when put in reverse and you can kinda hear it trying to engage and will throttle up put it in neutral and its in forward . I have an idea that its the cable but is it broken or is it an adjustment.

ok need some more help with a part wtf is this called and where to find the piece that holds this down.

The trunnion is sitting in the cable anchor and needs a cotter pin through the tiny hole in the cable anchor to hold the trunnion in.
