1990 merc 35hp running hot

" i have a 1990 35 hp merc outboard oil injected, the only way i can get water to come out the pee hole is to have the engine idleing very high, could this be the impeller, or does anyone have any suggestions what else it may be, very new to this and really not sure , there is nothing blocking the intake at the bottom of the engine. if it is the impeller is it hard to change.

It ssounds as if it may be time to replace the impeller and related seals in the water pump. It is not real hard to do but if you are new to this its prob best to buy yourself a workshop manual.
