" I use gas/oil mix for this motor for the last 14 years. Some leaking of the oil around the prop is normal to me. However, the last couple of weeks i have run the boat at home and now have gas/oil leak where the lower unit connects to the upper unit, and also see more oil leaking from just below the upper unit. There is no visual leak if i remove the cowling and look around.

Can Joe or someone else give me an idea as to why this may be happening?

thanks,
Steve "

" Do you still have the gas line hooked up? I have seen when it is left hooked up, it pressurizes the hose, overflows the carbs. The gas evaporates leaving oil behind. I almost pulled my powerhead apart to change the lower seal till someone pointed this out to me! "

Oil around the prop is very normal when run at home. Pressure test the lower unit to check for leaks on the seals.

" I leave the gas line hooked up as always.

sparky, is there an easy way to pressure test the lower junit to check for leaks?

I'm not to mechanically inclined, can someone let me know if the gasket/seal between the lower unit is to keep any oil/gas from leaking out or is the problem likely higher up towards the gas line. "
