ok im getting no fire to the plugs at all. anything i can try. iv checked all fuses and they are fine. any help would be awesome. this is the first day in my life to work on a boat motor.

Have you verified that " kill switch " is in the correct position ?????---------------What is the history on the motor ???---------Is this motor " new to you " ???--------------------Had trouble before ???-----------Is battery in good condition ???---------Is it turning over rapidly with the starter ???----------------Post anything and all you know about the motor !!!!!

yes, kill switch is fine. history of motor: never had a single problem has sat up for about 3 years, i went through the carbs and replaced all fuses and fuel lines. along with 2 brand new batteries. and is turning over like a champ. i think i narrowed it down to the power pack. im getting 12 volts to the rectifier, but could the power pack inhibit it from sending power to the coil packs?

texas it appears in 90 theyused 2 different set ups. one has a 6700rpm rev limiter with a 2500rpm limit when over heating (thats the one i have). the other has no limiter and is a lot less expensive. if you have the first i mentioned you will have a tan wire running from the top of the engine to the power pack (cdi box). also the first powerpack will have a connector with 4 wires blue, green, purple, and white the other connector will have 5 wires 2 orange, 2 brown, 1 black. the second set up has no tan wire and i beleive only 4 wires in the second connector. which do you have?

i was incorrect about the connector plugs. the first set up has a plug with 5 wires the other 4. the second set up has a plug with 4 and the other 3.

first set up ok. i know this one very well. i have replaced the timer base, powerpack, and stator all one at a time as needed and found along the way how to check this system. i have a installation and troubleshooting guide for this system and will get you the 411 on how to get it for yourself. are you any good with a multimeter?

Texas try striking the black power pak with blunt object while spining motor if you develop fire replace power pak. sounds shadetree i know however my point was proven a tec rep from jonrude witnesed a motor a had on the dyno[customer brought in for eratic ign] every time i struck the pak ign died strike again ok.you have nothing to loose!!!!! p.s. not 100% but has worked time and time again
