any ides on what would cause t

any ides on what would cause the crackshaft splines to rust away ? driveshaft good. motor runs like a champ but isn't turning lower unit or pumping any water

Crankshaft/driveshaft splines rust away when someone does not install the upper driveshaft "O" Ring and grease the upper driveshaft splines thoroughly.

If the engine is otherwise in good shape, you may be able to get a shop to change out the crank without breaking the bank. I would closely inspect the top splines of the driveshaft before reusing it too. Good luck!"
