" My 1990 Evinrude 120HP keeps

" My 1990 Evinrude 120HP keeps running after turning off the ignition switch. At first, it only happened occasionally, but now it is rather constant. I know this can be either the ignition switch, or the power pack, but how do I tell?
The key switch does turn off all the gauges and disable the choke. I would just take the switch off and check it, but the backside of the throttle box is difficult to access to remove the mounting nuts. Thus, I'd like to know what other checks I can do first.

" Had the same problem on a Johnson 120. It seems that salt water had coroded the wires in the large red plug on the powerhead. Some times the engine would quit, others it would not. Pull your engine cover and check the plug. Make sure all of the wires are in good shape and then check the pins in the plug.
