I had the motor running on the

I had the motor running on the lake last week and it ran good.. I launched it yesterday and it would crank but would not fire.. I checked the carb and it had gas... I pulled a plug wire and no spark... pulled coil wire from dist. and put next to block and no spark..
The lanyard was in the safety shut off switch and I put a meter on the switch and it worked fine.
I disconnected the wires from the coil and put an ohmeter across the terminals and got a reading of 3.8 OHMS (which if I remember correctly it should be under 5 ohms).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Thanx.... Scott

"Scott, No spark means no powe

"Scott, No spark means no power to the coil, bad coil, blown fuse, Ignition switch etc.....
Have you checked anything else?"

Eric... I checked all the fus

Eric... I checked all the fuses I could find and they were good.. I checked the circuit breaker on the side of the motor and it was not tripped.. How do you check power to the coil? do you have to be cranking the engine to check it? and how can you check if the coil is bad? What do you check on the ignition switch? I dont want to sound simple but I have not had much experience with ignition systems.. I have a manual on order... but I would like to fix the boat and use it before I have to winterize it.. Thanx for the help!!!!!

"Scott, run a wire from the &#

"Scott, run a wire from the + of the battery to the + of the coil. If the engine starts, the coil is good and the problem should be between the coil and the ignition switch. If it does not start, then the problem could be the coil (most likely), but also points, condenser, wiring from coil to points, rotor, cap, ignition timing. Also, look for a broken or loose timing belt."
