1990 70 hp Yamaha

Have 1990 70 hp Yamaha 2 stroke that is extremely hard to start the first time. After once started it starts and runs fine. Have replaced spark plugs and pump fuel bulb numerous times. Seems like a fuel issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are using the correct starting procedure.----------Is the choke solenoid / enricher system working?----------On some motors you need to push in the key while cranking the motor over for starting.

Thanks for the reply racerone. Good thought. I believe the choke system is working. There is a separate switch near the key and I can hear the solenoid activate on the motor when I use the switch. Will remove the cover and verify the choke is really closing.

Yes the choke is working. Also checked the carb bolts and they are torqued evenly.
