Wasn't aware no private posts so I am reposting to the general audience. Sorry about that.

Maybe someone can help me. I took my boat out last weekend and had some problems with the engine. I was running out of the channel doing around 3000 rmp when all of a sudden I started to lose RPM's until the engine stalled. I restarted the engine several times but would only stay running for a few seconds. After several attempts of restarting with it stalling I got another boat to tow me out of the channel where I could take a look and try to figure out what was going on. My fuel filter is a glass type filter which you can see thought The engine seemed to be getting plenty of fuel. I did open up the filter and checked the element which was clean so I reinstalled it. Started the engine and this time it idled perfectly. I pulled the anchor and took the boat for a ride. I throttled it up to 4500 RPM's, lots of power and didn't miss a beat. The next day I took the boat off-shore 24 miles on a fishing trip. No problems with the engine all the way out and back. Here is my concern. I ran the engine in my driveway today to warm it up to do a compression test and after the first start it stalled after the second start I tried to throttled it up and it would not go above 1000 RPM at almost full throttle. It stalled again but when restarted run fine. It ran on the muffs for about 30 minutes after the compression test (80 psi on all 6) and installing new plugs, varying the RPM's from idle to 2000 RMP, it ran great. I'm afraid I haven't solved anything and it is going to happen again. Could the VRO pump or the power pack cause these types of systems? Any advise to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
