"My boat(1990 120 hp johnson) was running great then my buddy messed with my cd box. We went to go fishing and it wouldn't start so we asked around and messed with the ground on the cd box and it started momentarily,then nothing so I replaced the cd box and it started right up for about 25 seconds and then died. Am I frying the cd box or what? does anyone know?"

You didnt say what size or yea

You didnt say what size or year but normaly the rectifier and or regulator are for battery charging only and have nothing to do with your ignition.
The cd box has to have a good ground to work.
Unplug your big red plug or the small black with yellow kill wire and check for spark depending on engine size
