I was given the above mentione

I was given the above mentioned boat. I have replaced the entire floor and am working on the other stuff. Th biggest problem is that it sat for a couple of years. I got it running yesterday after a few searches on here for help on NO SPARK I finally got spark to the coil and then had to disconnect the white/green wire from the distributor to actually get it to start (heading out prob tomorrow to find a new interrupt switch) Now to my questions

1) Once it is started (hooked to hose) what should I be looking for to ensure no problems?

2) Is it ok to put it in gear and test out the drive while hooked to a hose in my drive way??

3) Any common issues or concerns that I should look for in a boat that has sat up for a couple of years???

4) Any other advice to someone that is completely new to this stuff and is learning on the go?

"Thanks a million,

As for the wood/rot,

The boat was left out on a lift with no cover, I went in and gutted the floor, foam and replaced the transoms (refiberglassed) new foam (expensive) new floor (also fiberglassed over wood) then new carpet (cheapest part of project.

I looked around and didnt see any signs of rot on any of the rubber that I could see. I am going to give it a good look today and ensure it is good to go. I was concentrating on getting the floor done and then atleast getting it started. With all that done I am going to finish the redoing of the interior and then start doing all the fine tuning and inspecting. The web site you sent should be a great help, and I have the engine and out drive manuals.

One thing I did notice is that the steering seems frozen the out drive moves no problem (when disconnected from the connection on the stern) but the steering wheel does not turn. With it being power steering does the engine have to be running for it to be able to be moved?????"
