"My hubby and friend are trying to replace the gimble bearing. They have removed all screws and they can't get the stern drive off, they think the bearing ceased on the drive shaft any suggestions on what to do next? Help!!!!"

I have to ask a dumb question.

I have to ask a dumb question....Are they sure all the bolts are out? I ask this because I left two in and tried like hell to get the outdrive off.... check again. Ignore them if they look at you and say "of course they are all off"

What type drive are they worki

What type drive are they working on? Is it a Cobra? Did they unbolt the Hydraulic rams and remove the pivot pin? After that it should only be six locknuts and washers. Then it helps to support the unit with a hoist. If it's a Cobra a lifting eye can be screwed in where the oil dipstick goes-very top of the upper unit.

Yes all that was done and it s

You can lift the drive up and slide a block of wood in there and then let the drive fall against the wood to see if breaks free and then try standing/jumping on the drive so that it is pivoting against the wood.
