1989 Mariner 115 HP 4 banger leaking fuel from lowest Carb

Just picked up this motor # 0C215387 4 clyinder This boat was sitting for about a year but started right up.
Fuel spilled out of the vent hole on the bottom carb when primed & continues to leak when running. Tried tapping on the bowl no luck. Also the primer pumps fuel but doesn't build much pressure Is it Time for a new float & valve or the fuel pump

Sounds like a sticky/clogged float valve.

I would pull the carbs, and clean/rebuild them.

Kit's from Merc are about 35 bucks a piece.

So yes, 150 bucks to do all 4 carbs, but that is about 2K less than a rebuild if clogged carb toasts a cylinder - so it's all "perspective".

A diaphram kit for the fuel pump runs about 12 bucks, so wouldn't hurt to throw one in while you are at it.

Since it has been sitting I would also change the sparkplugs and change the lower unit oil.

Then when it's all back together, spend 5 more bucks on a can of Merc's "Power Tune" and just follow the directions on the can - will clean out any "cooties" that accumulated in the crankcase and cylinders.

Is the oil injection still intact or was it removed at some point? - don't guess if you don't know - run 50:1 mixed gas until you can confirm.

One more note. If you are unfamiliar with the models 2+2 design, it basically only runs on 2 cylinders at lower rpms.

Somewhere in the 1500-2000 range it kicks over to all 4 (or back to 2 on the way down).

This "transition" can be a little "bumpy" and does un-nerve owners until they get used to it.

So it's just a "not to worry", "that's normal" situation with this motor...
 
Sorry, should have added a new impeller or even a waterpump kit.

Motors that sit eat impellers through dry rot...
