165 horse alpha 1 engine STERN

165 horse alpha 1 engine STERN DRIVE. PURCHASED IT IN OCT THE BOAT IS PRESTINE FOR AGE SOME APHOLSTRY NEEDS ATTENTION STILL HAVE ORIGINAL SHOP MANUAL. FORMER OWNER HAD A COMPLETE TUNE UP. HAVE CHECKED ALL FUSES AND ELECTRICAL. SOMEONE SAID THERE IS A KILL SWITCH CAN NOT FIND IT. Or is there another problem PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP
 
check the points for "glaz

check the points for "glazing over" fingernail file or fine sandpaper works .check you power at the + side of the coil with the key in the "run" position

Thank you for the quick response. Points looked good but filed a little anyway. Checked + side of coil with key in the run position. Motor still will not turn over. Any thing else I can try? Do you know where the kill switch is on this model? Can not find it coluld it have been moved or messed with causing this problem?

How did you confirm the points were working? or how not?

Is the shifter NOT in neutral?
Is the ignition fuse blown?

Need much more info and feedback when you perform a test, specifics specifics............."
