1989 Johnson 90HP outboard wont shut off

My 1989 Johnson 90HP VRO outboard will not shut off when you turn the ignition key off.Any ideas? I am using a new BRP remote control with a wiring adapter to connect this remote control to this outboard.Outboard starts and runs good,Trim and tilt work great.Just does not shut off.

Find the black/yellow wire at the powerpack that leads to the ignition switch (kill circuit). Grounding that wire should kill the ignition and stop the engine.

If it does not... faulty powerpack.

If it does... faulty ignition switch.
