"I need some infoabout my outboard. Its a 1989 175hp Evinrude Model # E 175 S T L CE B. It seems to be called a bubbleback? I want to buy a rebuilt short block, All I can find ANYWHERE is a crossflow rebuild! Will my exhaust plate and components make the crossflow turn into a bubbleback? or where can I find a rebuilt shortblock bubbleback? And what should the compression be on this? I hear 110 psi from one person, then 90's from another. I have found one shortblock for $700 with 94-96. Is this a good deal?"

The bubbleback refers to the e

The bubbleback refers to the exhaust cover. Many were flat. The bubble was right below the Trim relays on the back of the motor. The bubble improved exhaust flow and tuning.

So would a flat back crossflow mount on top and line up with exhaust?
