1989 Evinrude 110TLCEM Here's what happened

Was on water at WOT cruising along well and heard the long warning signal. No decrease to power while running with warning sound (short period of time). I knew the long signal was supposed to be an overheat warning. Put up and went to hotel. Put back in water next morning and started up fine. No warning signal. Opened up on lake and had intermittent power loss with no move of throttle. Definitely not running the same as when I put in the day before. Something obviously happened.

Oil was completely full with premium 2-cycle
Gas was standard, fresh gas with 10% ethanol. Seafoam regularly used. Engine rated for 10% ethanol.
Carb Kit was performed a year ago.
Fresh electrical wiring 6 months ago.
Water pump giving a healthy piss stream. Inlets not clogged.

Do you think it's more likely I've got a blown engine? Powerhead issue? Old gasket?
Or old fuel filter/dirty lines, etc? Spark plugs?
New boater trying to get wise. :eek:

If it was a fuel supply issue, then why the long warning signal as an overheat? Do these motors do that for a fuel supply problem?

Not an expert on this motor, but a good piss stream means your impeller is working and pushing water up to the tell. You need to also check that water is coming out the exhaust once it's warmed up, this will tell you that your thermostat is opening and allowing water to cool the pistons. Otherwise it could be overheating.
Sounds like it could be fuel delivery though. check filters and try a a fuel additive? Air could also be getting in to the fuel system via dodgy fuel line connections or via a leak around the carby.
