1989 DT40

I just had the impeller replac

I just had the impeller replaced on my 1989 DT40 which I have on my pontoon.

Now the motor is stuck in forward and I can't get it into neutral or reverse.

The mechanic said the two aren't releted.

Is this a difficult fix?
Is this something I could do myself?

I'm not a mechanic.....

Firstly an outboard must be ru

Firstly an outboard must be running to change gear (i like to do the easiest 1st) Then look under the carbs at the front of the engine you will see the top of a thin shaft which should be linke to a lever. this is the shift Watch as someone tries to shift and post some more info.
