Few days ago I had my boat out. My fuel pump went out so I did a lot of trying to start the boat and hand priming the same time to get back to the boat ramp (a lot of strain on the starter) got the boat home flush it it started up no problem with the starter few days later I went to replace all my fuel lines tried to start the boat and the starter just spins the Bendix does not engage battery is fully charged reading 12.7v in that range. I've read about a Bendix being sticky. I removed the starter cleaned Bendix really good and gave it a little luberication, cleaned all battery connections staring from the battery to the starter and solenoid and ground connections. Go to turn the key over and get the same thing. What volts is the starter supposed to read when turning the boat over? I also did notice on the starter shaft where the Bendix slides down has corkscrew like treads. On the starter shaft it self some of the threads Down at the base of shaft by the housing are gone but you can still hold the starter shaft still and turn Bendix and it slides up with no problem. I don't know if that little bit of threads missing could cause the problem that I'm having. Any ideas or suggestions please help!!!!
