I'm wanting to replace the battery cables to my 70hp evinrude but I'm not too sure what gauge is appropriate for it does anyone know or know of a chart for the Evinrude motors?? Thank you!!

If you have the originals, just measure them. Actually, the older model wiring diagrams used to give that information, but I just looked at the 1989 diagram, and they no longer say what the wire ga is. Going back to a 1976 70hp, the battery cables were 6 GA. Hope this helps at least a little bit.

I do know you can go always go bigger but not smaller. So I went with a 4ga wire, fixed most of problems I've had with the motor. I'm just not getting water discharge from pee hole. New impeller installed correctly. And water tube is in the housing motor pee just fine before I replace battery cables and fuel pump

Was impeller housing and plate sealed on both sides? Is she running warmer than usual? If you, can keep your hand on head for a 6 second count without scorching fingers she's fine, Engine needs to warm up before telltale starts working, Have you tried a length of weedwacker cord to ream out telltale opening? Pulling water pump may have dislodged crud, Pull a thermostat housing and inspect the stat. It should open about 3-4 millimeters. should open at 143-150 degrees, Can be tested on your stove suspended with a thermometer
