I have an 89 Evinrude model E28ESLCEA that I do a lot of trolling with at around 1000 RPM. It will run well for 45 minutes or so then it will start to sputter and die. It appears to me that it is do to lack of fuel. If I catch it soon enough it will start running good for a while after squeezing the bulb and filling it with fuel.My question is where should I begin look to correct this problem. I have all ready changed out the primer bulb and fuel hose.

Next is to check for an air leak INSIDE your fuel tank on the pick-up tube.------Pictures of your fuel tank ?----Could be a vent problem with your tank too.----Or perhaps replace the $6 diaphragm in the fuel pump.

Thanks
I just ordered a re-build kit for the fuel pump. It is not a tank vent problem .I usually run it with the cap loose (have had other issues with that).I will pull the fuel pickup off the tank and examine it

What issues have you had with the venting? Sometimes by loosening up the cap, the vacuum will cause the cap to seal anyway. Is it the OEM steel tank? There is a vent hole where the little vent pin pushes in, that can plug.....or the vent valve itself can misfunction.

I had that issue with the fuel cap on a lawn mower. I always run the motor with the cap loose. The motor will run full speed without any problems.
