PLEASE HELP!!! The motor is super hard to start and once its started it wont idle for longer than 3 second but, if you can put it into gear before it dies it runs good until you go to idle again and then it dies. Does anyone know what i can do to maybe fix this?? I have cleaned the carbs and that didn't seem to fix anything.
 
I have now read it 1562 times------" cleaned the carburetors and that did not fix anything "--------So post the compression test numbers.-----Check for spark that jumps a gap of 3/8" or more on each lead.-----Did this problem show up suddenly ?----When did it last run nicely for you ?
 
The boat was given to me by a family member neither of us know when it last ran good this problem has been happening for as long as we've both had the boat. the spark plugs i have don't have a hook on them to check the gap, they are flat??
 
Sorry-----I did not mention anything about sparkplugs !----I asked whether your ignition system can jump a gap of 3/8" or more.-----It is possible that motor is only running on 3 of 4 cylinders.----Test spark with a test device and NOT the sparkplugs.
 
Remove the cylinder head.----Lucky for you if it is a blown head gasket.-----But it could be expensive if piston / cylinder is damaged.
