OK take the boat out it run ok

OK take the boat out it run ok and misses a few times while running out to fish. When I ran back it it made a short run and fell on its face. I removed the engine cover and put it to the boards and it ran perfect. I got close to where i was headed and put the cover back on and it ran like poop. I took it back off and it ran perfect again.?????? When the cover was removed it wasn't like it took a minute to clear up it was instantly. Any ideas..???

Most likely You have sparks jumping from the lower coils to the rear latches of the cowling.
Are You using NGK 'R' plugs?

No fumes or smoke. Yes I'm running the ngk "r" plugs. I am thinking about cutting all of the foam out of the cowling and see if it makes a difference. Then..???
 
So keep the foam in the cowl..

So keep the foam in the cowl..OK..I'll just make sure everything is well intact and pull out my wife glue gun and fix it up. Then what would cause it to run perfect with no cowl and crap with it. I checked any place possible to see if birds or mice took up residence but its all clean in the air intakes. So i guess not a lack of air. Unless the foam is restricting it somehow. then I think electrical but I don't see no cracked or boggered up wires. I don't know but what I do know is that it is pissing me off
 
Could be leaking exhaust into

Could be leaking exhaust into the cowling. This replaces oxygen and makes motor die. Common on JetSkis. Just a thought.

I was told it was not exhaust it had to be an electrical problem. Like arching to the latches. Do you think spraying the latchs with rtv silicone spray and swapping out the ngk r plugs will make a difference..??

Yeah...I don't know how stupid this is but after replacing the vro/fuel lines/etc..etc. I take the boat out. Still has the same problem. So I was told it was electrical so I screw around with the latches and other b.s. Take the boat out and still has the same problem. So I go to the local boat store and they have a cowl sitting there off of a 90 hp evinrude. I borrom it and take the boat out and no problems. The only differece with mine and theres is a plastic piece like an air box under it. I find this to be such a freek fix..???
