1988 Meriner 75 tilt and trim problem

Hello , when using the tilt trim switch it sounds fine when i press down , but when i press up it make an almost grinding sound . It was working up earlier today but it would give way to this sort of grinding sound sometimes and work slowly . I have good voltage and i have cleaned and greased all connections . Any help would be great !!! Thanks .

First I would open the manual release valve on the unit and see if the motor will travel up and down (by hand) easily.

If so, given you get a "grinding" noise I would suspect that maybe your trim motor is starting to tell you that "it's looking to retire"...
