1988 Mercury 150 Blackmax

Hello,

Motor will run after I get it started, very hard to start. This motor is new to me, how do I choke it. I try pushing in the key while starting it, just dont know where the choke is. Is it the key pushing it in, not sure. The ball in primed and hard. I call bass pro shop to see if they work on them, they dont as it can only be 15 years old for them to work on them.

I can not see or hear your motor.-----Help your self by posting your compression actual values here.----Did you install a new water pump impeller?-----Also load test your battery.-----Take starter apart for inspection / ohm test on armature / cleaning / new brushes.----If cranking speed is slow there will be marginal / no spark.----Mechanics are hard to find at a " big box " store I think.
