1988 mercruiser 120 lower unit problem

Hi everyone. My problem is I h

Hi everyone. My problem is I had trouble taking apart the lower and upper. I got them apart but not before i put several scrapes and digs on both of the seams. I sanded both of them but there is still digs.Can I put silicone or a gasket in between them. Thanks for time. Chip

Hopefully you greased

Hopefully you greased the drive shaft before you reinstalled the lower leg. If not, take it apart and do it, or you will have the same, or worse problem, the next time that it has to come apart.
It's usually good practice to drop these things once a year to check everything out, and resolve the problem that you had getting them separated."
