1988 Mariner 9.9hp 2 stroke Lower Unit help!

Hi all,
I recently removed the lower unit from my 1988 2 stroke 9,9hp Mariner (Belgium) in order to replace the seals as the oil was contaminated with water.
I noticed that the bearing on top of the lower unit was corroded and I was advised to inspect the propeller shaft bearings.
I was told that i should be able to heat the lower unit casing with a heat gun and remove the propeller shaft bearing assembly. I've tried this unsuccessfully and have decided that some type of puller may be needed. I have no manual and so any help would be appreciated.
If i can figure out how to upload photo's I will do so.
Thanks

The bearing carrier for the prop shaft screws in to the lower unit, so while heat is often necessary you need to "un-screw" it. There is a special tool but other methods work.

It's convoluted to explain. If you drop me an email ([email protected]) I can send you a pdf file that will give you everything you want to know/how to take apart/put back together the lower unit.
