I recently purchased a boat that came with a 1988 75hp Mariner outboard. The control handle was broken, so I ordered and received a replacement.
Where the 8 pin connector hooks up in the motor, the original controller had 4 extra wires coming out - Blue, Green, Tan, Brown. The replacement only has the brown...
My thought is to splice the new cable into the original. Can anyone think of a reason why this would not work, and/or a workaround?
This is my first boat with a remote and a steering wheel. Many years of older 6hp and 9.9hp outboards, so this is new to me.
