1988 Mariner 40hp - Does this engine have a 'Water Pressure Sensor'?

Bought this 1988 Tracker-Pro 17 with orginal Mariner 40hp last year and I'm slowly (item by item) bringing it back up to original condition. Now I'm looking at the dashboard and there are still 2 guages that are not operational. I'm now working with the "PSI" gauge. I'm thinking that it's for water pressure..... If I'm right, where would that sensor be on the engine & how would it hook up to the gauge? Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks for the quick response. I had to look up "bourdon tube" though (never heard of it before. -- I learn something every day!). I'll have a good look at the gauge and the water jacket tomorrow if the rain lets up a bit. I'll let you know what I find! Thanks again.

Ok, I started at the engine and found the water pressure sensor (would have poked me in the eye if I had known what I was looking for before!) Followed the "bourdon tube" to an enclosed channel with a bundle of wires & the steering cables.... but the tube did NOT come out at the other end! Nor is it under the dash..... The gauge is there but no tube. Hmmmm. My thoughts are if it was an open end then water would be spurting out of the tube somewhere, which is isn't, so it must be plugged. Why would a previous owner do that? Any thoughts? (Note: I found another weird thing under the dash while I was there but will start another thread for that one.) ?????
