1988 larson 4.3 omc v6

I had been having trouble shifting for some time (forward and reverse) and we were just tooling along and I lost everything. No forward no reverse (towed yikes). It made a grinding sound as well.

I saw a similar posting by someone that described the exact same symptons but can no longer find it.

I remember the advice the guy was giving saying to lower the front of trailer, bring trim up halfway and remove some nuts/bolts but cannot recall the rest. Engine seems not to have been affected because it still runs. Any help out there? Thanks

You need a manual, original omc best, seloc second best.

Me first i would drain the gear oil thru a screen and see whats in the oil.
