1988 force 125hp won't start.

what is the proper way to start the engine with the throttle position or is there a safety switch that keeps it from starting. we have no spark but the engine try's to start? its a 1988 bayliner capri

The throttle has a neutral throttle advance.Pull the handle out and forward.It also has a choke.Push the key IN and turn the key to start.You should hear a click when you push in the choke.J

Check your safety shutoff switch. If this isn't working properly, the engine will not fire. Will turn over all day long but no fire at the plugs.
