1988 evinrude 150xp

I just bought this 24 foot fiberglass pontoon 1988 with the evinrude 150xp engine. The prop number on it is 01 007 17p. The rpm does not work and it's seems to get out pretty quick. I will tube and ski with this to so can someone lead me the right way for the proper prop. I am new to this just want to have the right one on it. Also it is hard starting but after you get it started it starts right up the rest of the day. Any thoughts on this problem. Thanks

Outline your starting procedure with details on what you do.-------------For one do you push in the key while cranking ??

I will push the button in 5times then crank, no start one time then crank again, stop then one again and crank and usually will sart.

Pushing the button 5 times really does little -----------The motor must be cranking to put fuel pressure on the primer.---------------So prime the bulb to fill the carburetors, advance the throttle ,and push key in while cranking.---After motor fires then you may have to push key in if it falters.

I'll try that and do you know anything on the prop?

For the safety of the motor you should get the tachometer working.--Then you can select a prop.
