"Recently my filter cover on the leg for the water intake disappeared, out at sea. My engine overheated and the alarm went off in the throttle, when running the engine with muffs on all water appears to run through properly. How ever recently when running at high speed the alarm went off again. Question; is there an easy way to flush any debri from the water intake or do I have to remove water pump and check everything?

"Your motor is a 1988...when was the pump impeller last changed? If you suspect that debris has entered the system, why not just pull the leg and replace the impeller and check the housing for wear. Easy job, not expensive and then peace of mind that the pump is ok for a few years."
