I have recently purchased a 1988 70hp Evinrude motor that I replaced the impeller on. This motor did not have the update done on the motor and has been done now. It seems like the motor does not have enough pressure out the telltale hose. It runs water out the midsection exhaust holes when hooked to the muffs and put in a tub of water. I took the thermostat out and I believe that it may be stuck open because I am able to blow thru it. The engine is very cool to touch even after running for several minutes. I have taken the lower unit off now three times to make sure the impeller is operating correctly. One thing I have notices different is the cup in the impeller housing. The openings are not as big with the updated kit as compared to the housing that I took off. Any suggestions.
