What is the proper ring end ga

What is the proper ring end gap?

Getting ready to reassemble. Machinist rebored all 3 cyl. to .030. I'm putting in Sierra pistons and rings. Machinist kept the instructions that specified end gap.

Clymer Manual says .007 to .017 in.
I have another manual on CD that says .07 to .17 in (1.8 to 4.3 mm) Can that possibly be correct??!! It seems it must be a typo.

ANOTHER PROBLEM: I ordered 1 piston and ring set first and the end gap for those rings is .012. I ordered 2 more at a later date (all Sierra from Marine Engine)and their end gap is .018. That seems like a big differenece and is possibly out of range.

Any guidance or assurance would be apprecieated.

Put it together AND TROW THE C

Put it together AND TROW THE CD TO THE DOG!

.17O IS 3/16 AND NO ENGINE WANTS THAT!
Wach how you align your rod caps!

Yes agree the figures on the C

Yes agree the figures on the CD cannot possibly be correct. Take the figures in the Clymer manual as correct

You need to check what the bore dia is...the machine shop may have honed it out too far.

The std bore plus 030 thou is what you should have if the bore size is greater than that depenping on how much you have a problem

"Paul, what happened to your engine? I have same yr and model and a ring in top piston partially disintegrated.

I'm watching your post with interest as I'm into a rebuild too."

"Paul, another question - why

"Paul, another question - why did you go 0.030 over? Seems like everyone does this. Is it a standard machine shop thing or was damage that heavy?"
