1988 140 Mercruiser Sterndrive (Interchangable?)

Can anyone tell me if a 1988 Mercruiser Sterndrive140 4 cyl will interchange with a 1985 470 Mercruiser 4 cyl?

Nope,... They are 2 Very different motors...

'n if yer askin' 'bout the drives, the gear ratio is different...

The 140hp ratio is 1.98:1, the 470's is 1.84:1...
