1988 125hp Force starting problem

My engine has been running fine..I was fishing in a tournament and we were moving to a new spot and when i went to start the engine it started clicking tried again and was still clicking. tried again and it started up..please help!!!Thanks

The first thing I would check would be the battery cable connections at the battery, are they green, loose, rusted.... then I would check the cable ends where they connect to the engine.

Do the connections that jerold suggests then?
Get a test light.
Test the solenoid when it doesn't work.
You should have power at both lugs when the key switch is activated.
The solenoid can click but not deliver 12v to the starter lug.
Lots of time the starter just needs cleaning.
Easy to take apart and fix.
