Hi guys,
You have been of great help to me so far.
I have just started up the engine, wow, these motors have some compression don't they !
It smoked a lot, the man I just bought it from had oiled the bores while in storage, I am using 50-1 oil mix as you guys advised.
I let it tick over for a while, I did notice when I revved it up, there was a slight pinging noise, my Suzuki dt8 2 stroke used to do this as well.
My question is, is this common in 2 stroke engines ?
It pumped water very well.

Sorry but I do not understand what you mean. This engines are very reliable and run very smooth. when your rev it up for a very short moment in neutral, you could hear some noice when the engine RPM is going down. However this is normal, it is not good at all to Rev the engine so high in neutral!
 
Know exactly what you mean! Thought mine was gonna blow up first time it did that. It's normal, however.
