1987 Johnson 8hp rebuilt carb

Rebuilt carb now it won’t start no sign of life at all new plugs
good spark. ??

Will the spark jump a 7/16" open air gap on a spark tester ??

It will jump all of 3/4 good spark

Why was the carburetor taken off for work ?-------Any other trouble shooting done ?----So it started before the carburetor work ?-----Choke flapper closing properly ?

The little hose in bowl was disintegrated so replaced everything
250.00 bucks everything new except aluminum base it ran without tube half choked

Do you have the OMC service manual? Did you do a link & synch? The procedure is described in section 1 of the manual.

A have you tried a spray of 50:1 fuel mixture into the carb throat ?

If you try redoing the "sync and link" be very wary of altering the adjustment screw on the cam follower. The U shaped part get gets brittle with age and is easily broken.

Did you remove the HT coils ?
