I have trouble starting my mot

I have trouble starting my motor. Then if I put it in idle it will turn off. I just change the spark plugs. I do not know what the spark plug gap should be.

"Champion QL77JC4 plugs, gapped at .040 . With plugs removed, spark should jump a 7/16" gap.

If you have compression and spark, the usual problem is fouled carburetors, in which case, clean and rebuild them."
